Why do they hate the U.S?
After World War 2, Japan had lost control of Korea and the peninsula was then split into two lands. North Korea, which was controlled by the Soviet Union, and South Korea, which was influenced by America. To stop the spread of communism, America aided South Korea against the North which began the Korean war. It is all but forgotten in North Korea.

On March 27, 2013, Kim Jong Un announced that,
"If my enemies make even the slightest movement, I'll give the order to destroy the U.S. military bases in the pacific."
This included the bases in Japan, Guam, and possibly, Hawaii. Kim never wanted it to be a secret that North Korea had a large development of nukes and would use them when needed. North Korea hates America so much, that June is something like a "Hate America" Month.

Sony Hack
On November 24, 2014, Sony was hacked and a significant amount of information was stolen. It was found out that North Korea called for the hack because of the upcoming film coming out, that was about the assassination of Kim Jong Un. You can't really blame them for being mad. But America wouldn't stand for this and James Franco and Seth Rogen's film, "The Interview," was still released. Tensions between the U.S. and North Korea have not been good since. But than again, they weren't good before than either. |
